New Student Resources
Information for New Students or Prospective Students
Asian American Mentor Program
AAMP is designed to ease the transition of new students to UIC during their first semester. Students are assigned into groups with two Peer Mentors and 4-5 new students for personal support and to help get connected to campus resources. Students also attend academic, cultural, and social events. To learn more about AAMP, browse the Peer Mentor Program links in the menubar.
New first-year or transfer students starting at UIC in the fall can now register for Fall AAMP. Visit our Peer Mentor Program pages for more information.
Who is eligible to participate in AAMP?
UIC students enrolled who self-identify as Asian American and/or Pacific Islander are eligible to sign up for AAMP. Ethnic backgrounds may include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Thai, and Native Hawaiian, or other Pacific Islanders, and more.
Also, as a high school senior, there are a few national and regional scholarships that you may be eligible for, the major ones are listed below (please note that AARCC does not coordinate these, but we list them here as a resource). Also, check out our scholarships page for additional opportunities for both new and continuing students.
